Juventus player Cristiano Ronaldo on Tuesday 22nd of January 2019, accepted a 23-month prison sentence to settle his tax fraud case.
This is coming after Ronaldo missed a second-half penalty kick during his side’s 3-0 victory over Chievo in the Serie A encounter on Monday night.
Ronaldo was convicted for evading payment of tax on image rights worth over £12million during his time at Real madrid between 2011 and 2014.
Ronaldo pleaded guilty to avoid any jail time and is expected to pay around £16.5million to the court Metro UK reports.
Ronaldo arrived at the courthouse through the main entrance with his girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez.
He was denied special treatment by the judge, having requested to appear by video or enter the building by car.
The Portugese captain acknowledged his guilt and left court within a matter of minutes.
