The striking members of the Academic Staff union of Universities and the Federal Government of Nigeria are set to meet today the 7th of Feburary in respect of the ongoing strike which was started in November 2018.
Both parties are expected to hold another meeting today, thursday to resolve issues which actually led to the strike.
According to ASUU President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, he said after the union's last meeting with the Ministry of Labour and employment, they concluded to resume talks about the on going strike today.
He stated that at the end of their meeting they concluded to meet with their members to discuss the Federal Government new position on the union's demands before taking any position on the F.G offers.
In confirmation of today's meeting, the Ministry of employment and labour has also released a statement stating:
“Furtherance to efforts at resolving the ongoing industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, is scheduled to hold a conciliatory meeting with the executive of ASUU.”
