Champions League: Mourinho names two clubs to play final.

Former Manchester United and Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, has backed  Barcelona to play Juventus in the Champions League final this season.

Juventus would face Ajax in the Champions League quarter-final next month after triumphing Atletico Madrid in the last 16 a few weeks ago, while Barcelona will face Manchester United after defeating Lyon in the last 16.

 Mourinho believes both Barcelona and Juventus are in pole positions to make the final.

“Juventus and Barcelona are the big candidates to play in the Champions League final, but the English sides are there, as well as Ajax and Porto,” Mourinho told AFP.

“Juve and Barca have experience, talent and each a special player. Normally, when you have a special player, your team is better.” He said.

Mourinho added: “Champions League quarter-final next month. We all talk about Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, but I prefer to talk about Juventus and Barcelona.

POLITICS: I remain Osun State governor, says Oyetola

Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, said he remained the duly elected governor of the state regardless of Friday’s judgement of the state Election Petitions Tribunal.

The governor enjoined the public to disregard the imputation that he had been ejected, saying he was confident of retaining his position at the appellate court.

Oyetola said the outcome of the lower court cannot affect the validity of the votes freely and willingly given to him by the people of Osun State.

He spoke in Osogbo while inspecting some projects in the state capital and he  reinstated that  the constitution allowed him to file an appeal against the judgement, he remained the legitimate governor of the state.

Oyetola said, “I am confident that our mandate will be reaffirmed at the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. As you all know, it was a split judgement, telling us that it was not a unanimous decision. This is part of our strength at the appellate court.

Midfielder, Ander Herrera in Shocking Transfer to PSG from Manchester United.

Manchester United midfielder, Ander Herrera, could leave Old Trafford to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer after the French Ligue 1 champions offered him a £150,000-a-week deal.

Super Eagles defender, Ola Aina, has been handed a three-match ban, after he was sent off in Torino’s clash against Bologna at the weekend, the Serie A committee confirmed yesterday, tuesday 19th of March, 2019.

Aina was who received two yellow cards during the 3-2 defeat.

Chelsea Russian billionaire owner, Roman Abramovich is ready to lose Eden Hazard to Real madrid this summer, AS reports.

On Monday, it was reported that Chelsea FC had rejected a bidding offer from Real Madrid to sign Hazard.

The Spanish giants who have held interest in Hazard for a number of years and returning manager Zinedine Zidane is a huge admirer of Hazard.

Hazard has developed into one of the finest players in Europe, since he joined the Blues from Lille in 2012, and has won two EPL titles, one Europa league title and also a FA Cup title all at Stamford bridge.

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo finally dwell on the outcome of the just-concluded presidential election.

Obasanjo acknowledged he refused to make a statement on the presidential election because the matter was already before court.

Obasanjo proclaimed on Tuesday in Abuja at the public presentation of a book entitled, ‘Election in Nigeria: The Long Road To Democracy’, written by Professor Abdullahi Shehu.

He said : “I will not dabble into the details of what I call current aspect of Professor Shehu’s book because since the emphasis was on the national elections, particularly the presidential election, and the presidential election is now taken to court.

“I think talking about it would become sub judice because it has been taken to court,”

Comic Actor, Baba Suwe visits Minister of Health, Prof. Issac Adewole in Abuja.

Comic Nollywood actor, Babatunde Omidina popularly recognised Baba Suwe, paid a visit to the Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, in his office in the Country capital, Abuja.

 The visit comes weeks after the actor went public to solicit for financial assitance to treat an undisclosed ailment that has affected him for years.

Baba Suwe has so far received donations from several kind hearted Nigerians including the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who gave N1 million towards his treatment abd only recently, a popular clergywoman, Iya Aladura also donated N10 million towards his medical treatment.

UNILAG Creative Arts Department Razed Down by Fire (Photos)

The Creative Arts department in Federal institution, University of Lagos was burnt by fire.

The fire which was reported to have started from the generator house of the department. So far, two buses conveying fire fighters has been deployed to the location to handle the situation.

Policeman Accidentally Kills a 14 year old Girl, while Struggling with a suspect's iphone.

The Nigerian Police force has come under fire on a popular social media platform, twitter following the report by a user which alleged that a 14-year-old school girl who was murdered in cold blood by bullets accidentally discharged from an officer’s rifle in a very sad incident which occurred in Adamo area of Ikorodu, Lagos state.

According to the twitter user, Fabian Mani, reported the incident occured when policemen were raiding and searching pedestrians in the area.

They accosted a young man who was being questioned on why he owned an iPhone if he wasn’t an internet scammer popularly regarded as a ‘yahoo boy’.

The argument between both the policeman and the young man led to a misunderstanding which made one of the policemen carelessly fire his gun and according to reports, the policemen immediately ran away from the scene leaving their vehicle behind.

Afterwards the irate and angry residents were also reported to have set the abandoned police vechile ablaze.

Nigerian Senate Approves N30,000 as Minimum wage.

The Nigerian Senate has approved an amount of N30,000 as the new national minimum across all state in the country.

This is coming after the submission  of the ad give committee on a new minimum wage chaired by Senator Francis Alimikhena on Tuesday 19th of March,  2019.

The upper chamber then told the Federal government of Nigeria to submit a supplementary budget to cover the consideration and approval of the new wage structure.

After the process of passing the new minimum wage bill into law, the Nigerian Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki has this to say:

The top-of-the-table clash was played in front of an astonishing 60,739 onlookers at the Wanda Metropolitano , a record for a women's football match at club level.

Champions League: Micheal Owen List Clubs That can Win Trophy this Season.

Former English Premier League and La Liga striker, Michael Owen has said that the winner of the Champions League for this season is between Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool as they are all capable of winning the UEFA Champions League trophy.

Other teams that have qualified for the last eight are: Juventus, Manchester United, Ajax, FC Porto, Tottenham Hotspur, and Barcelona.

Manchester City qualified for the Champions League quarter-final stage on Tuesday after defeating Schalke 04, 7-0 on Tuesday, while Liverpool defeated Bayern Munich 3-1 on Wednesday night.

According to the 39-year-old player, both Man City and Liverpool are slightly ahead of everyone other teams at the moment in the competition.

“I said at the start. I thought it was an English year,” Owen told BT Sport.

“Liverpool and Manchester City are the favourites to win the Champions League this season.

Argentina international and Barcelona star player, Lionel Messi made his mark with two goals and two assists as FC Barcelona put five past Lyon on Wednesday evening, matching what he described as an impressive midweek performance from Cristiano Ronaldo .

Champions League: List of All Teams that have Qualified for Quarter-finals so far.

Six football clubs has already taken a place in the quarter-finals for this year's Champions League.

The clubs are: Juventus, Manchester City, Manchester United, Ajax, FC Porto and Tottenham Hotspur.

Juventus progressed, following a wonderful 3-0 win over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

Manchester City defeated and disgraced Schalke 7-0 at the Etihad, after winning 3-2 in Germany.

Manchester United pulled off one of the most remarkable comebacks in the competition, fighting back from a 2-0 home deficit, to win 3-1 at Paris Saint-Germain.

Real Madrid meet Chelsea FC Over Hazard Transfer as Zidane Returns.

Spanish giants, Real Madrid have made contact with Chelsea about a summer deal for Eden Hazard, the UK Telegraph reports.

It is believed Real Madrid made contact with Chelsea about Hazard, shortly before they announced Zidane would be their new head coach on Monday.

Hazard who is a huge admirer of Zidane as a coach and named the French legend as his idol while. growing up.

HmChelsea’s transfer ban could block Hazard from joining Real, as Chelsea would be unable to sign a replacement.

However, the club is hopeful the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will overrule FIFA’s decision to snub a request to freeze the suspension during the appeal process.

The Blues value Hazard at £100million, even though his current deal expires next summer, whereas Zidane has been reportedly handed a £300 million transfer kitty.

Ex-France International, Zinedine Zidane has revealed the reason behind his decision about his return to Real Madrid as manager after nine months that he walked away, he stated that he felt that  was the right thing to do.

He quit his job ad manager at Real Madrid after winning the Champions League for three consecutive years.

Zidane has now returned to replace Santiago Solari and becomes Madrid’s third manager this season, signing a three-year contract until 2022.

In a press conference on Monday night, he said that: “I know this is a special day for everyone. I’m very happy to return here and that’s the most important thing. I will be starting work tomorrow to put this club back where it deserves to be.

Zidane Returns To Real Madrid After 284 Days Of Goodbye.

Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane to return to the club that has been his home since 2001.

Although he left the club on May 31 of last year, his heart has always been there and even though he was not expected to make such a quick return to 'Los Blanco's, he has made it clear that they were always his first choice.
The Frenchman will sign a contract, which will see him take the reins for the remainder of this campaign followed by an extra three seasons at the helm.

Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta,  FUNAAB produces her first ever female students union government  president-elect.

Comrade Ahmed Adeola Tawakalitu (D'OLA) became Funaab's first SUG President-elect after defeating her main opponent Comrade Hakeem O. Akiode (CARBON 5) in the election held by the school independent electoral commission  (FUINEC).

D'OLA made this historical feat, against all odds as the popular structure of  Stakeholders and the prestigious chain of Godfatherism were all against her,  but democracy came into action.

Panic As Fire Raze Down Popular Rivers Hotel.

Commotion arose at the Golden tulip hotel at rivers state, Port harcourt G.R.A Phase two, as fire guts some rooms in the first floorin the popular building on tuesday.

It was gathered that the fire, which started in one of the rooms, forced occupants of other rooms to rush out of the premises, while other guests, who parked their vehicles on the premises, hurriedly drove them out.

Sources said the inferno was extinguished by workers in the hotel, who battled for about 10 minutes before the arrival of operatives of the Rivers State Fire Service.

There was, however, no human casualty, but property worth millions of naira was destroyed by the inferno.

He said, “One of the hotel’s housekeepers in the corridor of the first floor noticed heavy smoke coming out of that particular room that got burnt. The room was occupied by a customer, but the customer had gone to work when the fire started.

Governorship elections: Police IG Bans The Use of Covered and Unmarked Vechile Number Plates.

The acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has ordered the immediate ban on unauthorised use of unmarked and covered vehicle number plates across the country.

The ban was issued through official statement by the Force Spokesman, Frank Mba, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, on Tuesday in Abuja. Adamu gave the order following intelligence report that covered number plates might be used to commit electoral related offences before, during and after the Governorship and House of Assembly Elections slated for Saturday.

He warned that covering .of vehicle number plates was a clear breach of road traffic Act and others laws of the land. The police boss said that such practices could also impact negatively on national security and heighten criminal activities.

Chelsea FC Appeal FIFA Transfer.Ban.

Football governing association, FIFA has confirmed it has received Chelsea’s appeal against their transfer ban.

Chelsea FC previously stated that they “categorically refute the findings of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee”, and would be appealing the ban on registering new players for two transfer windows, which FIFA imposed for breaching rules to protect teenage players.

But FIFA, in an official statement on Tuesday, said “there is no exact timetable” for Chelsea’s case, and the appeal panel chairman must decide on freezing the punishment.

FIFA’s disciplinary committee had imposed the two-window ban on Chelsea registering new players for breaches of regulations relating to the transfer of 29 players aged under 18.

Chelsea were also fined a 600,000 Swiss francs (over £460,000) and the Football Association was fined 510,000 Swiss francs (over £390,000).

Spanish club, Real Madrid will not be winning the Champions League for the fourth consecutive year, after they were defeated by Ajax on Tuesday night.

The Spanish giants, who won the first leg 2-1 in Amsterdam, lost 4-1 in their home.

Ajax scored in a three-goal lead, thanks to strikes from Hakim Ziyech, David Neres and Dusan Tadic.

Marco Asensio pulled one back for Madrid, before Lasse Schoene in a stunning free-kick.

Bundealiga club, Borussia Dortmund are also out of the competition.

Dortmund also lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur at home, after suffering a 3-0 defeat in the first leg.

Jose Mourinho has admitted that he has “no problem” returning to Spanish club, Real Madrid this summer.

The Portuguese, who was sacked last December at Manchester United, spent three years with Real madrid between 2010-2013.

Mourinho, who has been linked with the job, says he will have no problems coming back.

“To a club that I have been before? If I think the right club, the right structure, the right ambitions, I will have no problem at all.

“I think it’s really a reason of pride when a club where you worked before wanting you back.

“They are the iconic club, I think so you know 13 Champions Leagues,” Mourinho told beIN Sports.

Barcelona Terminates Midfielder, Sergei Samper's Contract.

Spanish giants, FC Barcelona have reached an agreement to terminate Sergi Samper’s contract with the club, an official statement from the club confirmed on Monday.

The statement read:
“The club would like to thank Sergi Samper for his dedication and commitment during his time at FC Barcelona and wishes him all the best for the future,”.

The 24-year-old mdfielder was once considered the successor to Sergio Busquets after graduating from Barcelona’s famed football academy.

However, the midfielder has suffered several injuries which has disrupted loan spells at Granada and Las Palmas.

Sergei Samper was part of the Barcelona first team squad this season but did not make a single appearance in all match.

What Solskjaer told Pogba after penalty miss against Southampton.

Manchester United interim Boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has said he will not speak to Paul Pogba on changing his penalty style.

Paul Pogba missed from the spot against Southampton and skimmed a chance to make it 4 goals for united after a befitting comeback.

Solskjaer was asked if he would be encouraging Pogba to change his style, Solskjaer told Sky Sports: “I just said to him there, “Just get ready for the next one because you’re going to take that one as well”.

EPL: I'm Not Sure About Replacing Sarri as Chelsea Coach - Zidane.

Ex-France International and Former Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, has told his close friends that he is unsure about replacing Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea, the UK Sun reports.

Chelsea FC will need to act fast if they want Zidane, with Juventus ready to make a rival offer and the Frenchman appears keener on a return to Turin.

Maurizio Sarri earned himself a stay of execution, with Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, although there are still significant doubts among the club’s top officials.

If Chelsea’s upturn in form is not maintained, Sarri could still be sacked.

However, while Chelsea’s officials wants to give Sarri time to change things, they have been alerted to the possibility of Zidane taking charge at Juventus, should Massimiliano Allegri leave in the summer.
